2012 Lexus IS-F gets a more comfortable suspension
Every family has a black sheep, and the Lexus IS-F is the black sheep for Toyota’s posh brand. Unlike the LFA – which pretends to be nothing other than a supercar – the IS-F does a very good impression of a posh rep-mobile. Until you mash the throttle, that is, and the IS-F unleashes power you’d never expect any mainstream Lexus to offer.

Update 20/0/09: The Toyota Sai has now been revealed. The Toyota SAI is going to launch on the 20th October in Japan. To all intents and purposes it is a Lexus HS250 under the skin and features a similar drivetrain to the new Prius, but with a 2.4 litre petrol engine instead of the 1.8 litre in the Prius.

Jaguar today announces a family of new higher-powered diesel engines, led by a rapid 271bhp version of the derv XF that's aimed squarely at the BMW 535d. It's the fastest diesel Jag ever – and will also slot into the XK coupe and cabrio.The diesel work-out is good news for the XF – today's 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel doesn't have the clout to mix it with the best German engines. We've already complained about the slothful performance of our long-term test XF and the new, bigger 3.0-litre oil-burner should answer such criticisms.
